David's Fundraising Challenge
Story
In November this year I will be travelling to Nepal in support of Save the Children, during which time I will be volunteering in a remote Nepali community helping with school construction. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity - the chance to see a part of the world I may never see, do some trekking and assist with repairing/rebuilding a village school. I ’m not too good with a hammer – I bend more nails than go in straight. But I hammer with enthusiasm!
As part of the trip, we are fundraising for the project that we are visiting to help give village children the opportunity to go to school. Currently, the Udaya Lower Secondary School has very poor infrastructure, including a run-down building with unsafe roofing and broken windows. There’s also a lack of clean drinking water, inadequate toilets, uncomfortable furniture and insufficient teaching resources. This project aims to improve the school’s physical infrastructure, encourage out of school children to enrol in school, improve the children’s retention rate, adopt child centred teaching and learning, train all of the teachers, and educate the community about children’s rights issues.
For all of this to happen, I need to raise $4,000. Any money donated goes directly to the project; I'm responsible for all of my own travel costs and expenses.
Any support that you could give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
David
